Fire bags have been used for centuries by numerous civilizations, of course with different names. The fire bags we produce at Crazy Canadian are inpsired mainly by those carried by native tribes in North America, Coureur de bois and fur tappers in North Eastern Canada. They were also carried by the Vikings, Normans and Celts in Northern Europe and various warrior clans in Asia.
Fire bags are basically pouches that either attach to or hang from the belt, or sometimes have a strap and are hung over the shoulder. They are used to carry a number of personal belongings including a flint and steel set, small rations of food, luck charms, currency etc.
We make fire bags to suit their owner's taste and needs. We often decorate them with Sterling silver conchos and beads like the Navajo, Apache and the Crow. Materials range from sturdy vegetable tanned leathers that are tooled or decorated, to soft deer, elk or moose skins, which are often lighter and more comfortable.
Have a look at some of the bags we have made. If you see something you like you can order it and send any further customization requests via our contact page. If we don't have what you are looking for, please contact us and let us know. Thank you!
